Re: is anyone taking Bentyl for GI issues ?

I take 20 mg. of Bentyl, 4 times a day it helps some w/ intestinal spasms.   I can't do the phenobartital, levisin, etc.

My intestinal spasms would get so bad that my heart would start to race and then I would shake.  It is like having a panic attack in your body, but your not upset or stessed.  I started Zoloft a few days ago, reluctantly.  Apparently, certain diseases cause your body to absorb way to much Seritonin.  I have Crohn's and UC.  The Zoloft makes your body not absorb the seritonin so quickly.  So, far I am not sure if I like it.  I don't like anything that can effect my emotional health, it's the only health I have.  It does make me nauseous, but, I am not having the severe spasms.

It is hard finding meds that work.  Which is why we are on this site.  I have tried it all including 6-MP and remicaide infussions and found little help.  One thing I have found to be crucial to my health is B-12 shots.  I give myself a shot of 2cc every other week in the hip.  I gave myself my shot this morning and I have done it at least 5 times now, but I still shake like a leaf, it is very unerving, but it is worth it.
B-12 is absorbed in a part of your intestine and you get it from food or in shot form.  It doesn't work in pill form.
If you have UC or Crohn's, or in my case both and I have had part of my intestine removed, your body dosn't absorb nutrients right.
The next time you see your doc ask for a B-12 shot.  I can almost guarantee you will feel better, not fixed, but every little bit helps.
Cannabis is the only guarantee for some relief.

Re: is anyone taking Bentyl for GI issues ?

WoW! In my experience with BENTYL 20mg Tablets for my IBS is that i get dry mouth, blurred vision, confusion, agitation, increased heart rate, constipations, difficulty urinating, changes in taste perception, difficulty swallowing, headaches, nervousness, drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, and if that wasn't enough nausea!!  Now i've tryed Cannabis and its a God sent!! Although its illegal in the state i live in, I find it to be the best effective medicine for my pain, and bowel stimulation. I recomend ingesting it as oppose to smoking it ...eventho smoking it gives u instant relief! Good Luck!
