Urge the Mayor to participate with the Task Force

Rally will be held TOMORROW in front of

202 “C” St. San Diego CA 92101 – 9am - 11/3/2009

Come out on Tuesday, November 3rd 2009 at 9am and urge the Mayor and Chief of Police to participate in the Medical Marijuana Task Force.

The San Diego Medical Marijuana Task force met on Thursday October 22, 2009 for the third time to deliberate on regulations for the operation of medical marijuana collectives and cooperatives in the city. Some of the issues discussed were security, lighting and operating hours.

The Mayor, Chief of Police, District Attorney or any of their representatives were nowhere to be seen.

In San Diego we have a “Strong Mayor” government in which the Chief of Police and most other pertinent city departments report directly to the Mayor. When the task force was formed, Mayor Sanders made it clear that his office will not participate nor will they send a representative to listen to the task force.

Although urged by the City Council and hundreds of patients, the Mayor, Chief of Police, and the District Attorney still have all refused to work with or participate in the task force. Urge the San Diego Mayor (Jerry Sanders), the Chief of Police William Landsdowne, and the District Attorney’s office to work with the newly formed San Diego Medical Marijuana Task force rather than continue to add to the environment of fear perpetuated against patients in San Diego.

If you can’t come out to the rally on Tuesday, please call and urge the Mayor Chief of Police and the DA to sit down and work with patients, rather than refuse to help or participate!

who and/or what government agency IS sponsoring the SDMMJ task force?

I am only one, but still I am one! I cannot do everything, but I can do something.

Hi LindaAnne,
The San Diego City Council brought the task force together to come up with an ordinance.  Councilwoman Marti Emerald was the most influential in the effort. Terrie...

thank you!
Since the task force was formed by the city council, it does seem rather stupid that the Mayor, Police Chief and DA are not being part of the process.

Thank you for the info!

I wish I could be there.    I will phone and e-mail my support.

It is criminal the way the DA, the Police Chief and the Mayor terrorize medical cannabis patients and providers in San Diego with use of force.

Hi Scott and LindaAnne,
Thanks so much for the comments and support.  Be sure and see my latest post. It’s taken from San Diego ASA website and tells of our amazing rally!  It was really great and I wish you both could have been there too.

We were able to get two local news stations out, KUSI ran live coverage in the AM and then ran the segment at 6:00 and again at 10:00.  One of our members, Mara Felsen, spoke at length, watch it here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0P1tMSYYtL4

And, video of the protest appeared on CW as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRDrXf4DKqc.  Eugene Davidovich, the San Diego ASA Coordinator, was able to edit this one with slides etc.  Great job -I wish I knew how to do this!  He administers the website as well: http://www.safeaccesssd.org/.  We're lucky to have him and the rest of the San Diego ASA people.  Love, Terrie...
