Topic: Medical marijuana in Alaska

I find it extremely frustrating to get in contact with other med users in Alaska. I am the first person my bible-thumping fundamentalist doctor has ever signed his name on a med mj form. My other doc, a PA, also prescribes me marinol. But, I am afraid to give up either of their names. I am afraid of my legalization could be jeopardized. However, I would be very happy to give anybody any advice as to what to say and how to prepare yourself for the appointment. Most people's biggest mistake is not to take the time to establish a repetoire with the physician. Another big piece of advice is to get ahold of the Bureau of Vital Statistics to download the paperwork. Then! Familiarize yourself with it! Please feel free to get ahold of me dinneen@mtaonline.net

Re: Medical marijuana in Alaska

Trying to deal with this site is extremely frustrating. I don't seem to be able to post. Maybe the reason Alaska doesn't have more posts is because it is too full of shit to get the post posted. I am not stupid by any stretch of the imagination, but I am only going to monkey around and try to follow senseless directions before I just say FUCK IT. Once again, my email is dinneen@mtaonline.net

Some questions Dinneenbear, How expensive is Marinol.? I've heard horror stories that it is several hundred $ per pill. Are these stories true?   mikee

Re: Medical marijuana in Alaska

I live in Ketchikan. I've done the research and I'm ready to try Medical Marijuana, (I have literally tried everything else) for my Chronic Pain. The problem is I don't know how to get any. I've never done an illicit drug in my life, I don't even drink alcohol or smoke. I'm in need of some advice and suggestions.

Re: Medical marijuana in Alaska

dinneenbear,

Your doctor shouldn't fear any reprecussions in Alaska. The law pretty clearly states that doctors are free to referr patients if they believe its needed. Alaska MJ laws have been relaxed for quite some time. Even without the card you can have it for non-medical use in smaller amounts. I am quite sure that you could share your doctor without repercussions. There is no such thing as a law against someone giving someone else a recommendation to see a certain doctor. I'd recommend Dr. Chandler at Providence for Juvenile onset Diabetes for example. But I would NOT recommend him for a med. Marijuana referral as he probably won't do it ..(he works primarily in pediatrics). Anyway, nothing illegal about recommending a doctor that you have been satisfied with in the past. That's how people get new customers for their businesses all the time..word of mouth.
