Topic: (Shasta Co) Shasta Lake City council listens to reason
The trend of riding the Pack bandwagon to "inevitable" bans came to a screeching halt in Shasta Lake City Tuesday, as the council declined to hold an emergency meeting to consider banning dispensaries.
The move comes after the City of Redding, the county seat, banned dispensaries and the Board of Supervisors banned them in the unincorporated county. Although several Redding dispensaries are defying the order to close, many are concerned that safe access to cannabis in Shasta County is under serious attack.
Thus it was tremendously satisfying to see that our advocates were able to show the council that Pack did not mandate a ban; instead, the city will now revise the permit portion of its ordinance to be sure of not running afoul of federal preemption.
