Topic: can Marijuana Really Cure Cancer?

If you have any interest in the field of marijuana as medicine you will have seen the multitude of cannabis as a cure for cancer videos and articles on the web. To a certain extent, I have avoided them, putting them down to hype and over-hype. Thing is, if something knocks on your door often enough and loud enough, you owe it to yourself to see if it might be of interest… And with the release of a powerful and eye-opening film about the future of cannabis-and perhaps even the future of medicine, What if Cannabis Cured Cancer, I had just had to take a look.

Back in April 2007, Harvard researchers released findings of a study into the use of THC to fight lung cancer; the results were rather astonishing, they found that this active ingredient in marijuana reduced tumor growth by 50% slowed down the spread of cancer cells within the body. However, we have to be circumspect here because the studies were carried out in test tubes and on mice. There’s no doubting though that the results were promising. Even more promising was a UK follow up study in which, for three weeks, standardized doses of THC were injected into mice implanted with human lung cancer cells. Once again, tumors were reduced in size and weight by around half compared to animals in a control group.

Since that 2007 study, more research findings have been published in the science of medical marijuana field and it appears that the active ingredients in marijuana not only limit tumor growth, they seem to do so without affecting the normal cells surrounding the cancer.

But is the hype surrounding this limited research a little too soon and in danger of creating false hope?

One inescapable fact is that the amount of cannabis required to have any effect on tumors is large; very large. In fact some experts say it is impossible for a person to take in enough cannabis to be effective. However, those who promote the use of cannabis as a cure for cancer suggest that by using cannabis oil it is possible to get enough of the active ingredient into the body and medical science supports them. The International Medical Veritas Association, who are active in righting the wrongs of the medical establishment in so many fields, has put hemp oil on its cancer protocol, along with magnesium chloride, iodine, selenium, Alpha Lipoic Acid and sodium bicarbonate. It’s only when you begin to understand that the aforementioned establishment ‘use tests and treatments that cause cancer to treat cancer’ that the futility of current cancer treatments become clear.

So why, when hemp oil is known to be one of the most versatile and beneficial substances known to man, are the powers-that-be so opposed to its use? A few facts about hemp oil:

* Hemp oil contains a unique ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 to GLA (gamma linoelic acid) of 2:5:1 and is regarded as a superfood
* Hemp oil contains a much higher concentration of pure GLA than any other plant – around 5%
* Hemp oil has been used for its healing properties over many thousands of years
* Hemp oil offers one of the most concentrated sources of plant protein

What we would like to know is what you think? Can cannabis cure cancer? Have you personal experience of marijuana helping or healing cancer? This is a huge and controversial issue, and one that deserves serious discussion. Tell us what you think.

google "phoenix tears movie", and watch it.  Yes it can cure cancer, and yes it does take a lot.  Why are the powers that be opposed to it's use?  There is no money in curing cancer.

Re: can Marijuana Really Cure Cancer?

I have done this successfuly, about 10 times. Get, make some cannabis oil. Apply it directly to a skin cancer lesion. Cover it with a water proof bandage, and leave it on for 3 days. Water proof bandage lets you shower without getting water on the lesion, and oil. At the end of 3 days remove the bandage, clean the site with Isopropyl Alcohol,(yes this will hurt some. Would you prefer a needle, and a knife?) Inspect the site, and re-treat as long as you think it is needed. When you are ABSOLUTELY sure the cancer is cured, continue treating for 2 weeks. Just to be sure. It worked for me. The skin cancers I have treated in this manner are gone, they have been GONE for over two years.

Re: can Marijuana Really Cure Cancer?

I'll have to get back to you on that "cure thing" in a few years. But in the meantime-

Mine is an ongoing saga and not a short story, but at the moment I am using cannabis in lieu of my prescribed post surgical radiation and chemotherapy. S-3 / N-1

My ACS 5 year survival rating is listed as 50% without Radiation, and had I taken it, as 60% with......** 30 months and counting.

Re: can Marijuana Really Cure Cancer?

What the heck - since I'm coming out of the closet -

I am a S3 - N1 head and neck survivor. 29 months. UCLA did the majorty of the work.

I also have a few other late stage chronic issues that might be of interest to this research.
Menieres, Diverticulitis, free flap issues and other post surgical trauma.

I recently came home to the old family house here in Michigan, my wife turned me out of the LA home so here I am, but thats a good thing as I like it here. Except for one issue - my access to centfrifugal oil has been cut off. I had been using it in lieu of my perscribed radiation and chemotherapy. Now I'm using .... well, tinctures and almost - but not quite - medicinal quality flowers. My Access is improving quickly as I'm meeting people in the Michigan Medical Cannabis community... or so it seems, but my concerns over the quality and purity, let alone the costs, are still a major issue.
I'm starting to feel myself slip a little but without current PET scans... who really knows, LOL - I'll bet I'm fine and its just me getting used to living in the winter again. Doc says everyone gets depressed here come late feburary.

Re: can Marijuana Really Cure Cancer?

I don't know about cannabis but I'm a firm believer in megadoses of vitamin C, despite the mainstream view that it doesn't work.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_C_megadosage

In 1976 Pauling and Ewan Cameron published a trial of 100 patients which suggested that treatment with intravenous vitamin C significantly increased lifespans.[10] Three large, placebo-controlled trials of only oral (not intravenous asorbic acid, as with Paulings' study) vitamin C in 1979, 1983 and 1985[11][12][13] did not find a positive effect of vitamin C in cancer patients and a re-analysis of Pauling and Cameron's initial data found that the comparison groups were not adequately controlled or randomized, with the vitamin C group being less sick than controls when entering the study.

And as a side note, it's also useful if you get bad weed.

Large dosages of vitamin C can be used to augment an antipsychotic in the treatment of acute phencyclidine (PCP) psychosis.

Warning though: prolonged megadoses WILL give you kidney stones because excess vitamin C isn't stored in the body.

One of the things all cancer patients experience upon diagnosis is an outpouring of helpful information regarding alternative methods of treatment. New ideas and old ideas are always welcome. This common willingness to offer help reaffirms my belief in the common goodness in all peoples hearts.

Krinton -
Do you have first hand experience with using vitamin C intravenously? If so, would you be willing to share your Type, Staging and the timeline detailing when you used this method to treat your cancer?

I should also share the salient pub-med notes I keep in my medical file. They were all instrumental in aiding my decision to stake my life on this course of treatment -  for the record.

Re: can Marijuana Really Cure Cancer?

Austin,

Early research is showing pretty consistent positive results from a variety of compounds in the plant.
Cancer is ranked in stages and types...  if you read the literature, it appears that cannabis compounds
(cannabinoids, flavanoids, terpenoids) can work on many levels for a cancer patient...  but the more aggressive
research indicates isolates being used to successfully fight glioblastoma (very serious brain cancer), as well
as being helpful in gonadal cancers (breast, cervical, uterine, ovarian, prostate, testicular)...  as well as helping
with nausea, appetite, etc.  Any cancer patient is a serious patient.

Re: can Marijuana Really Cure Cancer?

I am curious: Would you use sativa or indica to make hemp oil for someone who has cancer? I understand that the strain used in the preparation makes a difference in cancer treatment?

Also: what's best? the oil, or the tincture (considering that tinctures are made with alcohol, which is not supposed to be terribly good for cancer)?

In the above video, scientistis discuss that Cannabis targets cannabinoid receptors which are located around the body.   In other words, Marijuana is an anti-cancer agent.

In the words of the video presenter: "We need to find CURES for cancer and not just TREATMENTS that pharmaceutical companies love to research (it generates billions in revenues for them).
