Topic: Vegan Edibles in LA?
A friend of mine is looking for a Medical Cannabis Collective/Coop that has a decent selection of vegan edibles in LA. Does anyone know of any?

I wish I knew as well. I've visited 2 dozen coops trying to find a safe edible so I don't have to make them myself. I've found 2 places that I trusted to be truly vegan.
A huge issue is what is "Vegan" and does the provider know what goes into vegan food. Vegan foods are very strict in what they may contain. I've seen many "vegan" edibles that contain white sugar, which isn't vegan at all. The best places I've seen nice vegan edibles is the Farmacy Venice and LAPCG.
Look for detailed labels that define exactly what is in them. Some will say the practices used to insure they are vegan compliant.
Still, it's a minefield out there. No standards, Poor safety, No accountability. You roll the dice with edibles.
I also have a medical heath issue that makes me very wary of pre made edibles.
I have a disease -Celiac- where I must not eat any wheat, rye, barley or oats. Edibles have to be strictly gluten free for me to eat safely.
However I haven't found any pre made edibles that were truly gluten free. In fact the "well known" baker who has a few GF items hasn't a clue what gluten free actually means!
I don't know who made them, what level of cleanliness they have in their kitchen. Cross contamination is something not understood by providers of edibles that I've talked to.
To me a "gluten free" dispensary edible mean 2 days of horrific pain and vomiting and the increased risk of cancer. (I don't need any more cancer, I'm full!)
Anyway, other members may have much better answers that the 2 I've given.
Good hunting Herbalicious, may you find what your friend needs.
Best,
LG
Try the TRACKER web site, I think a search will WEED out the vegan edibles! wasn't sure if I could post a link to it so... figure it out!lol there is alot on it for vegan treats. peace

That's where I've found the non vegan "vegan" edibles. As well as the gluten containing "gluten free" edibles.
Cookies with peanuts not listed on the label? Great for anyone with a lethal peanut allergy! It's a mine field out there.
Anyone with a handful of trim and a oven is now a provider of edibles. This is an area where I invite regulation. People shouldn't be getting sick from something that they eat for health.

I've been saying this for quite some time. I'd look for full disclosure and ServSafe certification as a start.

MCSC has been developing food-based medicine regulations. You should check them out and see what they have come up with. Richard (who makes the lotion) has a software program that creates FDA-standard labels with all ingredients and % which the USA requires for all food.
my more recent edible was GF fudge, but it wasnt vegan (called for butter and milk). ive been vegetarian for 14 years, but now ive either developed a gluten intolerance, or its somethin else....but im damn sure i have celiac with how it makes me feel after eating [gluten]. ive made a kick ass vegan chocalate cake; but its not GF.
i really thought i was the only one here wanting GF vegan edibles! >.<
peace
I work for a co-operative in San Francisco that has a Vegan Apple Muffin on the menu. The baker uses Ener-G Egg Replacer and Earth Balance Vegan Buttery Sticks so it is truly a vegan item. Also, every Bliss Edible is made with hempseed oil with is a healthy oil with essential fats and acids!! They also have a gluten free item on the menu: Toasted Pecan Caramels. We abide by all the city and state regulations for the manufacture and packaging of medicinal edibles, and we are dedicated to baking with BUDS ONLY! Never trim! All of our cooperative members must have verified recommendations, and we work hard to instill the security and reliability in the edibles market that has been missing. Find us in local co-operatives all throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area or go online to www.blissedibles.com to find out more about our premium edibles.

Interesting, are these regulations posted anywhere? who came up with the procedure for pasteurization etc. ? I always hear about "people" crafting potential regulations, but it always end up looking like something crafted by the LA city council. With a science background I'd be happy to contribute to your committee.
Ah the problem with tainted edibles is they impede the bliss.......lol
Baking at home is the best solution, freshest, and you know what's in them....
I like freeze, grind, and bake....the technique is on youtube at
