On January 17, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) raided eleven medical cannabis collectives in West Hollywood, Venice, Hollywood, Sherman Oaks and Woodland Hills. They detained 20 people and confiscated medicine, but they have not pressed charges. These raids came on the heels of the West Hollywood City Council announcing its development of permanent dispensary regulations and the Los Angeles City Council considering a temporary moratorium on dispensaries, while the city develops regulations.

The California Healthcare Collective in Modesto was raided this morning by local and federal agents. Two dispensary operators and two employees were arrested and will be arraigned on Friday.
The DEA needs to know that the medical marijuana community of California will not stand for the continued attack on our sick and dying! Stand up for your right to safe access! Make a sign and head to your local DEA office this Friday, September 29th at 12p.m.

On Tuesday, March 14, in a cruel act of harassment and intimidation DEA agents, along with Riverside County Sheriff's officers, raided a small medical marijuana collective grow outside of Palm Desert, California.
Medical Cannabis Patients Stand Down DEA in San Francisco Dispensary Raid

More than fifty medical cannabis patients and supporters braved hard rains, and blocked the doorway of Hopenet Cooperative for three hours while the DEA attempted to get a search warrant to raid the cooperative. Agents had tried to enter the building before noon without a warrant and were rebuffed by staff at the cooperative. San Francisco tactical squad officers were dispatched for crowd control, but decided to pull out after waiting for more than 3 hours for the DEA to produce a warrant. Once the SFPD departed, the DEA left as well without having been able to enter the facility.

On Monday December 12th, federal agents raided thirteen medical cannabis dispensaries in San Diego, CA with the help of the local police and sheriff. That week, activists in 16 cities protested the DEA raids.
