Medical Marijuana for Seniors
Welcome to Americans for Safe Access' (ASA) online community. ASA is the largest national member-based organization of patients, medical professionals, scientists and concerned citizens promoting safe and legal access to cannabis for therapeutic use and research. ASA works to overcome political and legal barriers by creating policies that improve access to medical cannabis for patients and researchers through legislation, education, litigation, grassroots actions, advocacy and services for patients and their providers. ASA has over 30,000 active members with chapters and affiliates in more than 40 states.
The major obstacle between millions of patients in need and access to the medicine that can help them is federal policy based on politics and prejudice rather than logic and science. Caught in the middle are the people with legitimate medical needs who only ask for the best treatment and most efficacious medications available to treat their illnesses. Please help us break the federal grid lock and move forward as a nation by developing federal laws that allow therapeutic use and encourage research.
Below are resources for Seniors and medical cannabis. Please take a moment to look over the resources and project that ASA has specifically for Seniors. You can be a part of this mission-driven organization and know that you are helping advance medical cannabis therapeutics and research while protecting patients caught in the political crossfire. We will provide you with up-to-date political and legal information and ways you can plug into this movement. We offer resources and organizing opportunities for patients, medical professionals, scientists, and advocates.
Doctors and scientists have found medical cannabis effective in both managing symptoms and treating illness associated with aging.
The Silver Tour seeks to educate and inform seniors on the benefits and exciting discoveries in the medical cannabis field. To encourage activism for legalization and create demand for safe access. The half-our "edu-mercial" has been aired in Florida and Oregon television.
The following is a survey conducted on behalf of AARP in December of 2004. The goal of this survey was to gather opions about the medical use of marijuana.
In order to better serve you and the movement for safe and legal access, Americans for Safe Access has put together a Condition-based Union Survey. If you are a member of an ASA condition-based union, a person who uses medical cannabis to control or manage symptoms of an illness or injury, a caregiver, friend, health professional or physician, please take a few minutes to complete this survey.
